NAMI benefit at 7th annual Pints in the Plaza

Last year David Palma of local real estate company, Palma Properties sponsored a very successful dunk tank charity drive at the annual Pints in the Plaza event. All proceeds benefitted the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), of Mendocino County.

You may remember the long line of people willing to pay to dunk Sheriff Tom Allman and Judge Keith Faulder.

This year we would like to invite you to participate for a great cause. Imagine throngs of locals lined up to dunk you!

The 7th annual event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 3 to 7 p.m., with Sheriff Tom Allman again kicking-off the fun.

The goal is to crush last year’s $1,500 donation while continuing to bring awareness to Mendocino County’s current mental health crisis.

Why NAMI? The National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness, according to their website.

Mental health services are in great demand throughout Mendocino County. Sheriff Allman has been very vocal about his mission to reform our mental health system and the great need for expanded services locally.

“We are very grateful to Palma for organizing the annual dunk tank for charity, to benefit NAMI Mendocino County,” said Sonya Nesch, Vice President NAMI Mendocino County. “The proceeds will help us expand to other areas in our county.”

“NAMI Mendocino County is our local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. In Mendocino County we provide support, education and advocacy,” noted Nesch.

Free NAMI Family Support Groups are held in Ukiah, Fort Bragg and Laytonville. Visit http://www.namimendocino.org for meeting times and locations.

Please join the growing list of dunkees, or nominate someone you would like to dunk by visiting our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/palmaproperties/.
